Gardening allows you to plant new seeds each time you explore, and harvest them on the following visit to obtain a wide range of items: from food ingredients to gifts, and even stat-boosting items.
At their base, seeds will usually give some modest rewards when cultivated, but you can increase the yield, and the chance for rare items, by investing money in higher tier cultivation. Again, at the start you won't be able to do much, but as your Professor Level increases – so do your options.
When visiting the Greenhouse, speak to the character inside to choose available seeds to plant. Starting off, you'll have few options, and can only plant one at a time. You can find more seeds by completing quests while exploring, and searching among crates and barrels for sparkling objects for a chance to find more. Once you complete a side quest to help bring merchants into the town, you'll be able to buy even more seeds each month – and harvesting can give you additional seed combinations.
In Fire Emblem: Three Houses, you can spend time doing a small Gardening side project when exploring the Garreg Mach Monastery.

Smite Nature (Su)
At 5th level, a blighted myrmidon can call upon a corrupted servant of nature. When the blighted myrmidon chooses the second fiendish boon option, it functions as a summon nature’s ally spell of the appropriate level. This ability otherwise functions as the standard fiendish boon antipaladin class feature.
Corrupted Companion (Sp)
Blighted myrmidons carry the seed of rot in their black hearts and sap life from the natural world.
