how long does a weed seed take to sprout

Seeds for these varieties are now widely available online and through dispensaries. It should be noted, however, that any plant grown from these seeds is not guaranteed to produce high levels of CBD, as it takes many years to create a seed line that produces consistent results. A grower looking to produce cannabis with a certain THC to CBD ratio will need to grow from a tested and proven clone or seed.

The main drawback to growing from seed is there is no guarantee as to what you’ll end up with—if you buy a regular pack of cannabis seeds, it will be a mix of males and females. You’ll need to sex them out (more below) to identify the males and get rid of them, because you don’t want your females producing seeds.

What are high-CBD cannabis seeds?

A lot of classic weed strains that have been around for a while come in feminized form. Some popular fem seeds are:

To create a dark, protected space, take another plate and flip it over to cover the seeds, like a dome.

Pros and cons of using cannabis clones

Most seeds that you will buy are regular seeds as described above, but here are a couple more types.

yes the soil will be to hard. You best bet to assure outdoor growth: dig a big enough hole to fit a large pot. Dispose of the dirt u dug up and fill the hole with a top soil mix or organic mix from your local nursery or hardware store. Make sure the area you plant the seeds in is an area that has loose soil that becomes spongey when wet, holds water well, and drains well.

Your probably not gonna get all 20 seeds growing. The seeds you wanna use are the thick, "beefy" ones. usually brown in color with "tiger stripes" on them. also most regular brown seeds pop too. But defiantly not the lil green ones. Those are immature seeds

The paper towel baggie method takes me 2 days to see a tap root.

But then again pot will almost grow anywhere if the conditions are OK. But anything to make it more suitable for the plant, the more chance of maximum growth with maximum yield.

Mr. Pif

if they are in soil then it deppends how deep they are?? give them 7 days im sure they will break through the soil in that time.

Ph’ed water all over a paper towel placed in a baggie. throw the seed up in the thing and close the damp paper towel over the seed. DON’t close the bag. Place the bagggie on top of a warm place like a cable box or p.c. Place a bowl over the bag to trap heat. Over night the seed will POP. The tap root soon follows. 100% germ rate for me.

Watch that GT and FDD. hahaha

yea your being a little impatient. When u germinate seeds in a paper towel it usually take 1-4 days for the seed to crack, and another 1-2 days before u see any decent taproots, then u plant them and another1-3 days they will pop from the soil. You just don’t see the work going on beneathe the surface. Keep it watered. Give it about a week. If ya don’t see anything in a week, week in a half, then ya have something to be worried about.
Until then. your gonna need time and patience, expecially if your working outdoors. You got til September-October buddy.

I’m not new to the board. Just a new name is all.

The paper towel method is also a common way cultivators pop their seeds. Some even use this method with cotton pads instead of paper towels, but the necessary steps are the same.

The environment in which seeds germinate also plays a role in the outcome. While there are several different germination methods, each requires proper moisture, minimal handling, and warm springtime temperatures between 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit.

While many plants can be germinated in the ground, cannabis seeds are fragile enough that you should germinate them before planting.

How to germinate seeds using paper towels

It’s essential to acquire high-quality cannabis seeds for germination, as these will go on to become high-quality cannabis plants. Seeds that are fresh-feeling or too green indicate that they haven’t reached full maturity, while pale-green, white, or very dark cannabis seeds may have trouble sprouting. However, it’s tricky to know the outcome of a popped seed, so trying may be worthwhile. If you’re not ready to pop your seeds yet, store them in a dark, cool place until it’s time for germination.

Germination is the first stage of the cannabis growth cycle : the process that brings a cannabis seed out of its hibernation period and starts the cannabis growth process. After all, seeds in a bag don’t spontaneously start developing roots. Also known as “popping” seeds, seed germination begins when a seed receives environmental cues letting it know the setting is perfect to start growth.

The seeds should start sprouting in about two days, though older seeds can take up to a week to sprout. You can remove them from the water and place them in the soil at any point once they’ve sprouted. Once the roots are about five millimeters long, they need to be planted.

Preparing to germinate cannabis seeds

To employ water germination, fill a glass with tap water and let it sit until it reaches room temperature or around 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Add two to three plant seeds per cup and allow them to sit, watching for any changes. Change the water to fresh tap water every two days, making sure it stays at room temperature.

When a seed enters an environment with enough moisture, it will increase in size and slowly break out of its shell. A seedling or germ forms from which roots will emerge, helping the baby plant absorb nutrients from the soil. Seeds naturally develop roots facing down and stems stretching upward, allowing the young cannabis plant to simultaneously feed off light and earth.
