About the brand: Who is The Anxious Pet?
The Anxious Pet was founded by a pet industry expert struggling with their dog’s serious canine anxiety. Boulder, an 8 yr old retriever, provided the inspiration to form a pet cannabis company after his anxiety issues progressively worsened to the point where even his water bowl was a source of fear.
After demonstrating the beneficial results of CBD supplementation on Boulder, The Anxious Pet quickly grew into a full consumer-facing business, and today has operations on each coast, in Florida and California. The brand doesn’t have its own farm, but is instead committed to supporting American workers, only using hemp sourced from sustainable farms and USDA certified organic MCT oil.
The Anxious Pet’s own manufacturing process is handled by their in-house Scientific Advisory Board, which includes certified veterinarians, scientists, and nutrition experts.
The top Anxious Pet CBD oils and treats
The Anxious Pet Organic Hemp Oil
Full spectrum extract
Organic fractionated coconut (MCT) oil carrier
11 cents per mg of CBD at largest size
This oil is fully organic, meaning that both the hemp extraction and the MCT coconut oil used are grown on organic farms. Despite the high quality cultivation methods, Anxious Pet somehow retains a highly competitive cost per mg of CBD, at just 11 cents, making this one of the best value CBD oils around.
Studying the lab reports for this oil shows the presence of CBC, CBG, CBDV, and trace amounts of THC alongside the main CBD ingredient. While it’s normal (and desirable) for a full spectrum oil to contain these secondary cannabis compounds, Anxious Pet has managed to extract higher than average levels of these cannabinoids, which should help increase the potency and effectiveness of the overall oil.
The terpenes Humulene and Caryophyllene also show up in 3rd party analysis, which are soothing, aromatic compounds often found with essential oil remedies.
What are customers saying?
“The 3rd canine CBD line I have tried for my anxious Aussie…I noticed a difference IMMEDIATELY.”
“I had my doubts about CBD for my dog (9 yr old retriever)….but those doubts totally went away as he just responded so well. I put a few drops in his food in the morning and then a few drops in the evening.”
The Anxious Pet Relax & Roll Soft Chews with CBD
Includes supplements Acetyl L-Carnitine and Chamomile
5 cents per mg of CBD
Proprietary blend of Acetyl L-Carnitine, Chamomile, Ginger Root, L-Theanine, L-Tryptophan, Melatonin, Organic Flaxseed Powder, Organic Turmeric and Willow Bark
Non-active ingredients: Citric Acid, Lecithin, Natural Peanut Butter Flavor (non-allergenic), Organic Glycerin, Organic Palm Fruit Oil, Pea Protein Concentrate, Sweet Potato Flour
A look at the ingredient list for Anxious Pet’s CBD treats immediately signals a commitment to quality nutrition. Instead of the high-profit-margin or filler ingredients used by many brands, these snacks are packed full of organic oils and flours, alongside a natural peanut butter flavoring to ensure palatability.
The Relax & Roll Soft Chews didn’t make it on our list of the best CBD dog treats due to high competition from other brands.
In addition to a standard 5 mg of CBD per chew, Anxious pet treats also contain their own bespoke ‘TAP70’ cocktail of superfoods and supplements. This includes anti-inflammatory ingredients such as ginger root and organic turmeric, as well as calming, sleep-inducing compounds like L-Tryptophan and Melatonin.
Despite the number of active ingredients packed in this product, the cost per mg of CBD is just 5 cents, meaning the value for money on offer is once again exemplary.

The Anxious Pet is a premium pet cannabis brand that ticks all the boxes when it comes to its ingredient sourcing and production methods. The result is a high quality CBD oil with a rich spectrum of supplementary cannabinoids and terpenes. As for their treats, we love it when brands are committed to using nutritious ingredients and take the opportunity to pack extra supplements into their recipe. While we couldn’t quite identify the exact CBD extraction used in their edible products, The Anxious Pet gets an overall thumbs up from us.

CBD Oil for Dogs with Anxiety
Rescue pups struggling with PTSD, traveling, moving to a new home or adjusting to new people or other pets in their life, fireworks, trips to the veterinarian or groomer…reasons for dog anxiety abound. CBD can be the solution for those looking for natural options to prescription anti-anxiety drugs and their potentially harmful side effects. CBD can help anxious dogs settle into happier routines both situationally and over the long term.
How CBD helped one rescue dog
As a rescue pup, Bennie had a rough start and continued to suffer from significant anxiety all his life, including having frequent nightmares. When his human first gave him hemp CBD, she was initially skeptical that this natural product could make a difference. Prone to panting, pacing, and barking, Bennie’s anxiety had been problematic for all the dozen years they’d spent together. After his first dose of CBD, Bennie seemed to quickly become more relaxed. When other family members, who had no idea that Bennie had been given hemp CBD, remarked on his calmer, happier demeanor, it was a testament to what hemp CBD can do to reduce a dog’s anxiety and calm restlessness.
Will CBD oil make your dog high?
There are very big differences between the two strains of cannabis. Pet CBD (cannabidiol) oil supplements are extracted from industrial hemp (sativa) plants which have high levels of CBD and virtually no THC (tetrahydrocannabinol, the compound that gives marijuana its psychoactive properties). Conversely, THC with levels large enough to produce a high is found in the marijuana strain, which contains very little CBD. CBD extracted from industrial hemp is legal in all states, but marijuana is highly regulated even in states where it’s legal for medical and recreational use.
This difference is crucial because THC can be toxic to dogs, but CBD is safe, so always make sure you give your dog CBD made for pets with 0.3% THC or less. Hemp CBD offers the calming your dog needs without the THC, so you can be assured that your dog won’t get high. If you give your dog CBD for relaxation, they will simply experience mild relaxation.
Is hemp oil different from hemp CBD?
CBD oil and hemp oil are very different, especially for calming purposes. Though they’re both made from industrial hemp, so neither product causes a high. Hemp oil is made from pressed hemp seeds, which do not contain CBD. Pet CBD oil is extracted from CBD-rich industrial hemp flowers, leaves, and stalks. In order to address your dog’s anxiety, choose products that explicitly state that they contain CBD and how much.
How do you find the best CBD oil for dogs with anxiety?
CBD advertising and labeling can be very confusing and even misleading, so to find the best hemp CBD for your dog, you will want to shop carefully. Check how and where the hemp is grown, and make sure it’s free of heavy metals and pesticides. It’s essential to buy only CBD that’s lab-tested for potency and purity.
Comparison shopping also takes a sharp buyer’s eye. It’s more important to compare the amount of CBD in the product, usually stated in mg, than the actual amount of product because there are a variety of potencies available. If you are dosing a large dog, offering CBD long-term, or dosing frequently, a higher potency CBD may be more cost-effective in the long run.
What’s the best way to give a dog CBD?
When considering CBD for dogs with anxiety, most people think of CBD oil. Bottled CBD oils with droppers are good options because they make it easy to measure the right dose. You can give CBD oil directly in the mouth or add it to food or a treat.
Oils will vary by potency, and by the amount of terpenes in them. You may want to choose full-spectrum CBD oil because it contains the highest amount of natural plant compounds that can boost effectiveness.
Since some CBD products have a “grassy” taste, if your pup is picky, you may want to consider Coconut Oil with CBD. Most dogs find it very tasty and it can be given straight or added to food or treats. It can also be applied to the bare skin inside a dog’s ears to be absorbed transdermally.
CBD treats for dogs are convenient, and it’s likely that your pup will love them. However, they can get expensive if you want to give CBD treats to a large dog or if you’re planning on long-term use, so you may want to do some CBD price comparisons.
How much CBD should you give your dog for anxiety?
You may need to do some experimenting to find the right dose because every dog and every situation is different. The typical recommendation is 1–5 mg per 10 pounds of body weight, but there is no known toxicity level.
Try a dose in the middle of the recommended range and watch for calming effects. You should notice a difference within an hour. If not, you may want to give more CBD to total up to the upper dosing recommendation. Your dog will not seem lethargic, just calmer with less panting, pacing, and whining once you’ve supplied the right dose.
You can give your dog CBD situationally, for example try CBD oil for dogs with grooming anxiety, or offer CBD oil consistently for a dog with chronic pain.
Can I give my dog CBD along with other medications?
If you give your dog medications for anxiety or any other conditions, check with your veterinarian before using CBD oil. Holistic and integrative vets are usually very familiar with CBD and will be easily able to answer your questions.
Hemp CBD has been the drug-free solution for a happier, more relaxed life for many dogs, and it’s expected to be used even more widely as more dogs benefit from its calming properties.
